50 New Cherry Trees Coming to Miamisburg
Two grants are about to bring 50 cherry trees to Sycamore Trail Park in Miamisburg.
The Dayton Realtors Foundation has awarded Operation 2000 Cherry Trees a $4,700 grant to plant 25 trees. The City of Miamisburg then pledged a $4,500 match to plant 25 more. Together, that’s 50 trees taking root in one park. Those 50 trees move us closer to our goal of planting 2,000 across Ohio.
Every tree we plant carries the same message: thank you. Our project began after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, as a way to express gratitude for the help American soldiers and citizens gave during the recovery. Each spring, when these trees bloom, they’ll carry that thank-you to everyone who passes through the park.
We’ll plant all 50 trees on Saturday, October 24, and we’re organizing a group of volunteers to make it happen. No experience needed. Bring gloves, bring a friend, and help us put down roots that will flower for decades.
Thank you to the Dayton Realtors Foundation and the City of Miamisburg for making this possible. When this latest planting is complete, we will have planted 1800 trees in the Dayton Region. The goal of 2000 is within reach!
